Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information. The Voyager Class ships are similar to Freedom Class ships but shorter in length. In other words, the Freedom Class was a stretched version of the Voyager Class. Only one ship in this series (Icon of the Seas) is currently operating, but the second vessel in the series (Star of the Seas) is already open for bookings.

What Are Royal Caribbean's Oasis-Class Ships?

Most Radiance-class ships have a decent selection of eateries, with options varying from ship to ship. All Radiance-class ships feature Chops Grille, Izumi, Chef's Table and Giovanni's Table; all also have the grab-and-go Cafe Latte-Tudes, for extra-fee specialty coffees and pastries. However, zip lines, giant water slides, surf simulators, skydiving simulators, ice rinks, and the Aqua Theaters are all missing.

Harmony of the Seas also features several multi-deck water slides, the Ultimate Abyss (the tallest dry slide at sea) and an Escape Room. You’ll also find Splashaway Bay on Harmony of the Seas (and later Oasis-class ships), which features water cannons, a multilevel jungle gym and an enormous drenching bucket. Note that only Wonder of the Seas currently has an actual Suite Neighborhood, which features Coastal Kitchen and a private sundeck. Royal Caribbean upped their dining game on the massive Oasis-class ships, with eight to 10 free restaurants and as many as 15 fee or a la carte options if you count bars with food menus. The restaurant lists contain new specialty dining venues like Port Side BBQ on Oasis and Mason Jar on Wonder plus the top-deck Vue Bar.

These behemoths can carry more than 6,000 passengers at full capacity. My first time on an Oasis-class ship was a media preview cruise for Symphony of the Seas following its christening in Port Miami. It was a short two-nighter, which means many of the people sailing were up late at night and again the following day to get all the content they wanted in a short time — including me. What’s more, you can go zip lining, as every single Oasis-class vessel features a zip line over the Boardwalk neighborhood.

Differences between the Oasis class cruise ships

The Oasis-class ships have a lot of stateroom categories, thanks to an abundance of suites and window and balcony cabins that face both inward and outward. Make sure you reserve your spot for ltop-rated activities, shows, and restaurants you want to try as soon as you can. Some things (such as restaurants) may open for reservations online a few months before the sail date, while others (such as entertainment) open days ahead of embarkation day.

Who Should Cruise on Royal Caribbean's Oasis-Class Ships?

The Oasis-class ships surpassed the earlier Freedom-class ships as the world's largest and longest passenger ships. Oasis of the Seas is also 8.5 metres (28 ft) wider, and with a gross tonnage of 225,282, is around 70,000 tones larger.[14][15] Oasis-class vessels can carry over 5,400 passengers. It’s worth noting that previous Oasis-class passengers say the vessels can feel too crowded, leading to lines or the need to book shows and dining ahead of time. Those who’ve sailed the class before have noted that Oasis-class ships also have a number of indoor spots where the ocean is never visible. Royal Caribbean‘s five Oasis-class ships (Oasis, Allure, Harmony, Symphony, and Wonder of the Seas) are the world’s largest cruise vessels. Sailing on any of them will certainly be unlike any other cruise you’ve ever experienced.

Explore the ship during the night

Adventure of the Seas is the only vessel in the class with a kiddie splash zone. As recently as 2009, these were the biggest cruise ships in the world, and they're still quite big compared to almost all other cruise vessels afloat. The newest and largest ship in the series, Wonder of the Seas, has the most differences from the other Oasis Class vessels. At 236,857 tons, it's about 4% bigger than the next biggest ship in the series; the extra space is devoted to such additions as a dedicated suite area with a private lounge, a restaurant and a sun deck.

What makes the Oasis class particularly unique are the inward-facing window and balcony staterooms. Spectrum of the Seas is the only Quantum-class ship with the SkyPad virtual reality bungee jump/trampoline. There are three ships in the Quantum class and two in the Quantum Ultra class. These five ships visit a wide range of cruise destinations from Alaska to Australia (Quantum and Ovation) and Asia (Spectrum), as well as the Caribbean, Mediterranean and cruises to Europe (Anthem and Odyssey). On February 15, 2024, the company entered into an agreement with the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard to build the seventh vessel in the class, for an anticipated delivery in 2028. In a surprise move, Royal Caribbean Group has confirmed the further expansion of the wildly popular Oasis class of vessels for Royal Caribbean International.

The Oasis Class is best for guests who view the cruise ship as the destination, and they offer something for every type of cruiser. Speaking of a movie screen, the TV screen on the pool deck on Wonder of the Seas is the largest in Royal Caribbean's fleet. Wonder of the Seas is the only Royal Caribbean ship with The Vue, a cantilevered bar located on the upper pool deck. The biggest difference on Wonder of the Seas is the addition of the Suite Neighborhood. The Suite Neighborhood is the eighth neighborhood onboard and is accessible only for suite guests. Symphony of the Seas was the first Royal Caribbean ship to debut the Ultimate Family Suite, Royal Caribbean’s most expensive suite.

The Oasis class ships are often compared to Royal Caribbean’s Freedom class, which were once-upon-a-time the biggest cruise ships in the world, at least until Oasis of the Seas entered service in 2009. Like the Freedom Class vessels, the Voyager Class ships have many of Royal Caribbean's signature attractions, including rock climbing walls and ice skating rinks. In fact, the ships were the first at Royal Caribbean to have those attractions. Royal Caribbean ship classes offer a mind-boggling array of choices for almost every cruise style. The line is known worldwide for its wow-factor mega-ships -- including Wonder of the Seas, the world's largest cruise ship. Inside the vessels, as on Icon of the Seas, you'll find a seemingly endless number of lounges, bars, restaurants and shops, as well as large casinos, spas and showrooms.

And in addition to FlowRider surf simulators and water slides on the top deck, Splashaway Bay aqua park is available for kids. If you can't live without those sorts of features on a cruise ship, the Radiance class probably isn't for you. If you're sailing with the line for the first time, it's important to understand that not all of Royal Caribbean's signature attractions and venues are present on all its ships. For instance, while every Royal Caribbean vessel now has one of the line's iconic climbing walls (some have two), only the 19 ships of the line's big-ship classes have a FlowRider surfing simulator. Only the 14 ships of the Icon, Oasis, Freedom and Voyager classes have ice skating rinks. Vision-class ships offer a bit less variety of things to do than their behemoth counterparts in the fleet.

They are located around the ship, so exploring Allure or Oasis of the Seas to find them can be a fun activity to do onboard. The Mason Jar specializes in Southern staples, including Lobster & Crawfish Gumbo, Blackened Cajun Catfish, and Shrimp N’ Grits. Brunch is also available on sea days, with menu highlights including Meemaw’s Fried Chicken N’ Waffles, Blueberry Johnny Cakes, and Stuffed French Toast.

Everything you need to know about Royal Caribbean's Oasis class cruise ships, with comparisons and onboard features. You'll also find three pools on each ship, whirlpools, a rock climbing wall, a miniature golf course, a sports court and an adults-only solarium. Each ship has a theater, a spa, a casino, and multiple bars and lounges.

Mariner of the Seas features the Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, which is exactly what it sounds like. Wonder of the Seas will be the fifth Oasis Class ship, and will sail from Port Everglades beginning in March 2022. Keep in mind that this is not a listing of every single difference, rather, it is a look at the significant differences that most guests will notice.
